Joe Rand is a Managing Partner of Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty, the largest real estate company in New York’s Hudson Valley. He is a graduate of Georgetown University, Georgetown University Law Center, and Stanford Law School, where he received a JSM Degree in legal studies while acting as a teaching fellow at the law school. His professional legal experience includes a term as a clerk for the late Hon. Frank X. Altimari on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and two years at Debevoise and Plimpton as a securities litigator in New York.
After his time at Debevoise, he went into teaching, as a fellow at Stanford and then a law professor at Brooklyn Law School, where he taught legal writing courses and developed a specialized course in legal decision-making, and Fordman Law School, where he taught Property I and Property II.
Since 2002, Joe has been a Managing Partner and General Counsel for the Rand family of companies, which now include Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty, Hudson United Mortgage, Rand Commercial Services, Hudson United Title, and Hudson United Insurance.
Joe has become a leading innovator in real estate education, and a speaker at numerous industry conferences including the Inman Connect conference, the Prudential Real Estate Affiliates convention, Prudential University, and others. His educational focus is on professional core competency, teaching real estate agents how to develop their business through superior service skills as well as strong professional sales skills. He promotes the concept of “client-oriented real estate,” or “C.O.R.E.”, which encourages agents to focus on client needs in both developing business and executing transactions.
